Alok Verma is New Delhi Police Commissioner

Senior IPS officer Alok Kumar Verma on 29th February 2016 took charge as the new Commissioner of Delhi Police at a time it is battling mounting criticism over handling of the JNU row. Kumar succeeds B S Bassi who was at loggerheads with the AAP government on a range of issues in the last one year.  
Verma, a 1979 batch IPS officer of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory) cadre, was serving as the Director General of Tihar jail.  He assumes charge of Delhi Police when it is battling mounting criticism over handling of the JNU row. Verma, who had joined as DG of Tihar on August 6, 2014 after serving as Special Commissioner of Police (Administration), is set to retire after 17 months. 
He served Delhi Police in number of positions, including Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District, Joint Commissioner of the Crime Branch, Joint Commissioner of Police, New Delhi Range, Special CP (Intelligence) and Special CP, Vigilance. He had served as the Inspector General of Police in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Director General of Police (DGP) of Puducherry.

Satender Awana elected President of Delhi University

Satender Awana from ABVP elected President of Delhi University. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has for the second consecutive year trounced National Students Union of India (NSUI) to win all four seats in the student union elections of Delhi University. The Congress-backed NSUI stood on the second position on three posts including that of president, joint secretary and secretary while AAP's student wing came second for the post of vice president. ABVP's presidential candidate, Satender Awana won by a margin of over 6,000 votes. "Our party has been working for the cause of students which is why we have won," Mr. Awana said soon after the victory.

DUSU Election 2015-16 Results: Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections 2015-16 is results is declared on 12th  September 2015. DUSU (Delhi University Students Union) is the representative body constituting students from different DU colleges and faculties. The students of Colleges/Departments/ Institutions affiliated to DUSU are eligible to cast their votes.

Qutub Minar: Qutub Minar is an excellent example of Afghan Architecture . The Minar is 72.5mts high victory tower, the construction of which began in the final year of twelth century by Qutubuddin Aibak and was later completed by his successor. It has been given World Heritage Site status.
Bahai Temple: Situated atop the Kalkaji Hill. Its is also known as "The Lotus Temple" due to its distinctive lotus shaped design in Marble. It was built in 1987 by the followers of Bahai faith. The temple signifies the purity and equality of all religions.

Former President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam passes away

Former President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, the 'missile man' who became popular as 'People's President' died after he suffered a massive cardiac arrest and collapsed during a lecture at the IIM Shillong on Monday evening. Kalam, who would have turned 84 in October, was confirmed dead more than two hours after he was wheeled into the ICU of Bethany hospital in a critical condition following the collapse at around 6.30 PM. Arriving at the Indian Institute of Management around 5.40 PM, he took rest for sometime and started the lecture on 'Livable Planet' at 6.35 pm. He collapsed five minutes later, according to Director, IIM-Shillong, Prof De. Kalam last tweeted "Going to Shillong to take course on livable planet at IIM." He was admitted to the Bethany hospital at 7 PM, a km away from the institute. Government declared national mourning for seven days. President Pranab Mukherjee,Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and host of personalities condoled the sudden and untimely demise of Dr. Kalam.
